ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) households represent a vital segment of our communities. These are hardworking families who earn above the federal poverty level but still struggle to afford basic necessities like housing, childcare, healthcare, food, and transportation. Despite their efforts, ALICE households often face financial instability that leaves them vulnerable to unexpected expenses and economic shifts.
The NC ALICE Report sheds light on the challenges these households face and provides critical insights that are essential for driving meaningful change. By understanding the scope and scale of financial hardship in North Carolina, the United Way network can more effectively advocate for policies, allocate resources, and develop programs that uplift these families.
