HHH has 2 avenues of service being provided to the Lake Gaston Region Senior Residents (Halifax, Northampton & Warren Counties in NC & Brunswick & Mecklenburg Counties in VA).
The most popular being Ramp Building (this is not for men only, HHH has @ 10 women on it Ramp Team roster!). No experience necessary, training offered. But, if knowledge of lumber/ramp building is already had, that’s an added perk. Typically, 1 Ramp a week is built, but if enough Volunteers reply available 2 Teams can be sent out on the same day/same time to build 2 separate Ramps.
2nd but no less important would be Transportation to/from Dr appts, grocery shopping, etc. Transportation is provided using the Volunteers personal vehicle. Transportation is offered to Friends Mon – Fri 8a – 5p. No weekends/Holidays. Transportation is not available from surgeries.
Come in and complete a volunteer application and interview. We can use warehouse workers (maybe someone who knows how to drive a forklift and bale clothes). We can use help with distributing food boxes Monday-Thursday 12:30-3pm. We can also use people to clean around the building and discard unused items.
